We are pleased to offer Botox® and other Dermal Fillers, such as Juvederm XC, to complement your great smile. We can use Botox® to smooth out the active forehead wrinkles, frown lines, and crow’s feet around the eyes. Juvederm XC can also be used to fill in static wrinkles and folds around the lips, facial areas around the mouth, chin and nose. It can also be used off-label as an adjunct to treat severe parafunctional habits such as clenching or grinding (bruxism), hopefully, to minimize the hyperactivity of the jaw muscles (chewing muscles) which can potentially minimize the number of secondary headaches and migraines, and/or joint pain. What Is BOTOX® Cosmetic?
BOTOX® Cosmetic is administered by Dr. Luther as a simple, nonsurgical treatment that is injected directly into the muscles between the brows. It works by blocking nerve impulses to the injected muscles. This reduces muscle activity that causes moderate to severe lines to form between the brows.
Secondly, Botox® is not permanent, but typically lasts three to four months, at which time the patient may elect to retreat with Botox®.
Why Does Skin Age?
As an example, the “11s” – those vertical lines that appear between your brows – result from muscle contractions. When you concentrate, squint, or frown, the muscles between your brows contract, causing your skin to furrow and fold. After years of frequent contraction, those wrinkles can linger even after the muscles are at rest.
BOTOX® Cosmetic works by blocking nerve impulses to the injected muscles. This reduces muscle activity that causes the persistent lines to form between the brows.
